My oldest memory of reading is reading the words "Vladimir Ilyich Lenin" inscribed under a dusty old portrait in kindergarten. I was the fastest reader in my class in first grade (in fact, the teacher accused me of cheating). Also in first grade, I did an entire writing exercise from right to left because the back cover of my notebook looked cooler than the front cover. My parents claim it was legible if you used a mirror, but these same parents readily admit my handwriting is terrible in any direction, so who knows. One of the great frustrations of my childhood was that when I saw The Matrix in the theatre I couldn't keep up with the subtitles and my Mum had to continuously narrate the film for me. The first story I ever wrote was to impress a girlfriend. The second was to upstage the same (by that point ex-) girlfriend in a writing competition.
If you are still reading this, you must be starting to realise you're wasting your time - read some of my work instead! Leave a comment as well, I appreciate feedback, and I love to revisit worlds, so works which get more attention from you are more likely to get more attention from me.
If you'd like to support my work, go make other people read it. You can also share it on social media, and you can subscribe for notifications about new content. I have a bit of a backlog of content, but I am just one man with a day job, so there might be the occasional lull in posts while I work on new stuff.
Best way to stay in touch!
